Hints, scents, and flavours from a hidden corner of Sicily—Graniti—where time moves slowly, and the land still whispers its ancient secrets. With patience, love, and generations of knowledge rooted in our soil, we distill the juicy gifts of nature into something truly special.
We are a small, family-run distillery nestled in the hills, producing in limited batches with care and intention. At the heart of our process is Maria Catena, our faithful copper still, who has become more than just equipment—she is part of our story.
Each bottle we create is unique, numbered by the year and tied to the rhythm of the seasons. The ingredients come from our own fields and those of neighbouring farmers—trusted hands we’ve known since childhood. It’s not just about distillation; it’s about tradition, community, and celebrating the rich biodiversity of our Sicilian land.
What you taste in every drop is not just flavour, but the essence of Graniti—sun-drenched citrus, wild herbs, mountain breezes, and the soul of a place where simplicity is sacred.
Behind Suttasanta, there are two people in love with their roots, Salvatore and Massimo.
Salvatore Romano, 59 years old, entrepreneur originally from Graniti and Swiss by adoption, who has already created Tasting Sicily , a company that produces and markets Sicilian food and wine products in Europe and the USA; he has also created the “ Graniti Murales” project since 2014 – together with his wife Karin Meier – to qualify and promote the town through art, creativity and murals.
Next to Salvatore is the master distiller Massimo Corvaia,
48 years old, born in Taormina.
The electrician of the village who has always cultivated a passion for spirits.
Year after year he has enriched his experience managing to govern the complex art of distillation.
A profession in which there are many variables to manage, to arrive at a final result of quality.
Massimo and Salvatore
started this adventure in 2020,
during the pandemic.
They said almost as a joke,
“Why don’t we make a distillery?”
And that’s how Suttasanta was born!

Her name? Maria Catena. We dedicated it to the elderly owner of the structure.

We only select raw materials that you would eat at that moment!

Only fruit of excellent quality for taste and aroma!
The guided tour begins with a visit to our beloved copper still, Maria Catena, the heart of our distillation process. Here, you’ll learn about the traditional methods we use to transform the fruits of our land into aromatic spirits, guided by generations of knowledge and care.
From there, we’ll take you to the “sala supra”—our welcoming upstairs space where the real magic happens. This is where we host tastings, seasonal cooking classes, and convivial gatherings that capture the soul of Sicilian hospitality.
As the evening sets in, everything comes together around 8 o’clock, when the table is set and we all sit down to eat. It’s more than a tour—a shared experience of flavours, stories, and the joy of being together. Come hungry for more than just food—you’ll leave with full hearts too.

Graniti — the small, painted village nestled in the heart of the Alcantara Valley — is a hidden gem just a few kilometers from Messina in northeastern Sicily. With a population of around 1,500 residents and perched at an altitude of 300 meters, Graniti offers visitors a peaceful retreat rich in tradition, nature, and creativity.
Set against the scenic backdrop of the Peloritani Mountains, this charming village marks the beginning of Sicily’s rugged hinterland. But Graniti is more than just beautiful landscapes — it is a living canvas. Over the years, it has become known as the “painted village” thanks to vibrant murals that adorn its walls, the result of international art residencies and community projects that blend local culture with contemporary creativity.
Wandering through its narrow stone streets, you’ll find not only echoes of ancient Sicily but also a thriving artistic spirit. From the warm hospitality of its people to the sweeping views of the Alcantara gorge, Graniti invites you to slow down, connect with the land, and experience an authentic slice of Sicilian life.
